The American southwest contains five distinct desert regions encompassing more than 700,000 square miles.  This includes the Subtropical deserts of the Sonora, Chihuahuan, and Mojave marked with searing heat and low precipitation.  The Cold Winter deserts of  the Colorado Plateau and Great Basin have temperature ranges of 10-120 ° F over their 320,000 square mile span.  For more information of these deserts, please click here.
All of the activities on this website take place in one or more of these deserts.  It's understood that the same activities can be done in jungles, mountainous areas and so on, but it simply doesn't matter.  Some of the most spectacular climbing, canyoneering and four wheeling takes place in the southwest desert states.
The idea of this website is to present a sampling of the back country and other outdoor adventures that are possible in this unique and potentially dangerous landscape.
Browse through the pages and view the 2D or 3D galleries where available.  Please note the 3D galleries do require a download from Adobe © and may take a while to load on some computers.  I've noticed iMac Safari has problems loading the page.  If you can't get the 3D to work, don't worry, the same photos are on the 2D galleries.  Email if you have any questions.
